Benchmark International is delighted to announce the successful sale of Lancelyn Lighting Limited, trading as ‘Lancelyn Theatre Supplies’, to Northern Stage Services Limited.
Lancelyn Lighting was established in 1971 and has two retail outlets in Oxford and the Wirral. The firm supplies, installs and leases theatre equipment and commodities, including lighting, sound and audio-visual equipment, curtains, staging, scenery, make-up and wigs.
The acquirer, Greater Manchester-based Northern Stage, offers specialist lighting, sound and stage solutions. It is also an essential link between theatrical, architectural and construction professionals when creating performance spaces with real impact.
Northern Stage, established in 1980, employs 25 people from its Shaw headquarters. The acquisition helps Northern Stage enhance its overall offering UK-wide, spanning the theatrical, architectural and construction sectors.
Northern Stage Managing Director, Patrick Colin, said, “Lancelyn has a long history in both Oxford and the Wirral and its customers very much value the service given by its skilled design, manufacturing and installation teams.

Together, we have an incredibly strong offering in the marketplace that very few companies in the UK will be able to match, encompassing, design, installation, sales and hire of specialist systems across the industry.”
The name of the combined entity will be announced shortly, with the new venture expected to continue to operate across the premises of both Northern Stage and Lancelyn Lighting, respectively.
