Benchmark International Successfully Facilitated the Transaction Between Brunel Security Limited and The Obsequio Group

Benchmark International is pleased to announce the acquisition of Portishead-based Brunel by private equity-backed Obsequio.

Brunel has 25 years’ expertise in designing, installing, and maintaining security systems, door entry systems, perimeter security, and fire detection and alarm systems. It also undertakes fire and security risk assessments, with employees security-cleared to government standards.

Obsequio maintains safety systems across fire detection and protection, water quality management, security, electrical safety, and energy efficiency/usage with customers including hospitals, universities, local authorities, leisure centres, and student accommodation providers. The group has been named one of the 100 fastest growing private companies in the UK with sales topping £14 million over the last 12 months.

Benchmark International is delighted to announce the majority sale of Irish fire-protection systems company, Writech, to Waterland.

Established in 1981 by Thomas and Mary Wright, Writech provides fire protection system design, installation, manufacture, commissioning, and services across a range of sectors including logistics, data centres, life sciences, office, retail, and food & beverage.

Sons Ted and Alan Wright took over the business in 2008, now generating more than €20m in revenue. Writech will use Waterland’s investment to expedite expansion plans in Europe and the UK, as well as increase output at its Mullingar centre, creating over 30 jobs.

Waterland is a Dutch-based private equity house, headed by Laura Dillon in Ireland. The investment group has €8bn in assets under management across Belgium, the Netherlands, the UK, Germany, France, Denmark, Poland, and Switzerland.

It supplies to commercial and domestic clients such as educational establishments and local authorities, as well as several well-known celebrities.

Churches Fire & Security has provided fire safety and security services to over 40,000 sites in the UK for over 20 years, offering fully integrated services including sprinklers, fire alarms, fire door inspections, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, dry risers, suppression systems, intruder alarms, CCTV systems and access control.

The acquisition of Ace Security & Electrical allows Churches Fire & Security to enhance its South East offering, supporting the business strategy of becoming the most comprehensive fire safety and security provider in the UK.
